What a Treatment is
A Treatment is an additional process applied before or after the main coating — stress-relief bake, passivation, chromate conversion, salt spray, etc. The primary coating is the one pricing is based on; treatments are add-ons selected per SO line.
Menu: Plating → Configurator → Treatments.

Create a treatment
Click + New:
| Field | Example | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Salt Spray Masking | Dropdown label |
| Code | SSM | Short ID |
| Timing | Pre / Post | Fires before or after main coating |
| Process Type | Plating, Chemistry, Inspection | Family grouping |
| Default Duration | 15 min | Estimated WO duration when added |
| Recipe Node | Optional link to a recipe sub-process | Adds these steps to generated WOs |
| Extra Charge | $50 flat / $0.25 per in² / 10% of base | Pricing adder |
How treatments appear at order time
In the Direct Order or Quote wizard, each line has an Additional Treatments many-to-many picker. Estimators tick whatever applies — Passivation, Hard Chrome Pre-Grind, Adhesion Test Coupon, etc.
Picked treatments:
- Contribute to line pricing (via Extra Charge).
- Generate additional WOs if they have a Recipe Node linked.
- Show on the PDF acknowledgement.
- Show on the CoC if customer-visible.
Common treatments to seed
A mid-size plating shop typically has:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Pre-treatment | Degrease, Solvent Clean, Masking, Racking, Salt Spray Masking |
| Post-treatment | Stress Relief Bake, H2 Embrittlement Relief Bake, Chromate Conversion, Passivation |
| Inspection add-ons | Fischerscope Readings, Adhesion Test, Salt Spray Test, Hardness Check |
Start by importing a CSV of these; you can tweak per-customer via the additional-treatments field on parts.
Archive vs edit
If a treatment becomes obsolete, Archive it — don't delete. Historical SOs keep the reference. New SOs can't pick an archived treatment.
What can go wrong
Treatment shows but price doesn't change
The Extra Charge field is blank or zero. Set it.
Treatment doesn't add WO steps
Recipe Node is blank. Link to the right node so the MO traveller includes those steps.
Same treatment appears twice in the dropdown
